Five elementary schools in five American Samoan villages were destroyed or severely damaged by the tsunami of September 29, 2009. In the interim, temporary structures made of aluminum and vinyl covering are being erected. A visit to two school sites with FEMA's infrastructure branch director on the island shows the facilities under construction.
