5th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management ISCRAM2008
SPECIAL SESSION on HEALTHCARE

< To minimize loss and maximize well-being, health care systems need to provide ways to support wellness, effective crisis response, health care delivery, and health administration. Projections for the future of healthcare predict reduction of medical care practitioners in the hundreds of thousands, increases in technology to bridge the gap of healthcare need and healthcare coverage, and increased security and data integrity requirements to safeguard patient privacy as well as prevent violations of healthcare institution security. These changes will require modifications, improvements, and introduction of policies to safeguard patient and institution security as well as improved hardware and software security, enhanced user interface, and quality reporting.

Research Area

In order to comply with the preceding and to improve support for office staff, clinicians, and patients, healthcare organizations worldwide are currently undertaking massive transformations and additions to their IS/IT infrastructure. The goal of this minitrack is to provide a focused outlet at ISCRAM for Information Systems/Technology Healthcare researchers in healthcare domains to share and discuss the results of their work in the landscape of prevention, management, and crisis response. Given the overall theme of this conference, special consideration will be give to papers that address systems or issues related to crisis response and management, though all topics are welcomed.
